I recently got a gig writing for PixelVolt and my first article written for them went live today. If anyone is interested it is available to read HERE and yes, it's about Ninja Gaiden. It's a new approach to talking about the game, although I guess not really as at the end of the day it's a bunch of praise for the game written under a slightly different context. I can't help loving what I love, people :P
I promise that going forward I will be tackling a diverse set of topics. The next one I am working on has to do with the fps genre and I promise no mention of Ninja Gaiden will be made.

Beginning of a New Short Story I Am Currently Writing
The following is the beginning of a short story I am writing. I'm not entirely sure how this one will turn out but if it goes well I might end up with a pretty neat one (I have an ending in mind, but the path to it is murky and may not be traversable). If I do end up with a decent completed tale I might post it here, if anyone is interested. The tentative title is "Something To Think About." Here is the first little bit:

1st Adsense Cheque, Baby!
Read it and weep, bitches:
magx01 got his first ever Google Adsense cheque. I am now both a professional writer and an official Google Inc. contractor earning $50 a year for running and writing most of the content for The Thoughtful Gamers blog. Feels good man. Feels good.
Hey, wtf am I still doing here? I no longer associate with the likes of you. I'm rich, bitch!
*sips champagne*
P.S. To my contributors, if you start actually, you know, writing, I will cut you in on the riches. This time around you all get zilch.
Actually, in all seriousness, earnings should be going up because until yesterday I did not realize that the sitemap for this blog had not been submitted to the google indexing. That has not been remedied, and we should therefore start reaping the rewards of that within a week or so (I'm projecting at least 50% more views over the next several months). What's that? Yes, that means we might be making a whopping $150 over the next 2 years! Well, when I say we, I mean me, unless you get your asses in gear. We earn our -1000000 minimum wage around here.

Another Story Opener
Remember this:? http://magx01.blogspot.com/2010/12/short-story-starter.html
Well, I have a second short story starter for anyone who may be looking for ideas to springboard into a story. This is the beginning to a story I wrote recently, and it was brought on by a single line: "If it was my world...." I give to you not just that line, but the beginning of the tale, in the hopes that I can help someone get out of a slump/writer's block. Good luck to anyone that uses this, and if you do, post the results in the comment section if you wish!

Short Story Starter
This is the beginning of a new story I am currently in the process of writing. I have no idea where I am going to end up, nor how I am going to get there, and I am currently sans title, but the idea of this story has me very intrigued, and I am reminded of one of the things about writing that amazes me: it's entirely possible for the author of a tale to have no idea where a story is going, nor have any knowledge of where it will end up. You can often be as in the dark about the details as your eventual readers will be. I find that fascinating. Anyways, here's the opening of the tale, and if a potential, even placeholder title pops out at you, let me know.
I kick the stool out from under me and drop. The slack rope tightens violently, the noose viciously choking off my vital air supply. My neck does not snap as I thought it would- I guess that's only in the movies. I am choking to death. I frantically grasp at the noose, trying desperately to free myself, to alleviate the horrible pressure and quiet the alarm bells ringing in my brain, as my bodies' survival mechanisms kick into high gear and try to erase the actions taken since I made the decision to do this to myself. My efforts are futile. There is absolutely no way out of this. I'm seeing shades of red, of purple, and of grey, as I choke. My body is swinging to and fro, as I continue the futile attempt at rescue. As the seconds turn into minutes, these efforts slow. Things begin to darken, and, just before everything goes dark, my mind's eye settles on the image of the thing that led me to decide to do this to myself this morning: the North American Robin sitting on my window sill.

Writing a New Short Story. Any Animators out there? Help Possibly Needed!
I just started to write a short story, and although I am only on page 2, I see potential in this thing to go a lot farther than one short story. I am thinking that a series of stories might be in order, and they might even be worthy of being turned into animated shorts for the internet. If anyone reading this happens to do computer animation, please leave me a comment, as I do not have any knowledge in this area, and so to make this idea come to fruition, I will require some help.

Gamer On Fire!!! ( Gameronfire.com )
Gamer On Fire!!!
I am now on staff at a gaming website. We're still working on defining roles, but it appears that I will be the Lead Content Editor, or something akin to that, as well as a writer (primarily xbox 360 related content, I imagine, but as I said, roles are still being defined), and a forum moderator. We are throwing together ideas for a podcast, a video service, and some other cool stuff like integration with and support of, professional gaming teams, and some other neat stuff.
The site is also going to feature a discussion forum that allows basically any and all discussion in regards to gaming. None of that ''blog it'' or ''no vs. threads'' shit. If you want to post a topic extolling the virtues of one game over another, go for it, but at least try and be constructive about it. If you think the DS is better than the PSP, say it. We're not little children who will jump to rally behind our little plastic devices and act all indignant upon hearing a dissenting opinion. And if you act like one, you won't have mods to protect you from others' opinions, so you'll have to either grow up, or leave.
Of course, if this is too idealistic, and it turns into a shitstorm of crybaby bullshit, then we might have to implement some changes, but that's not the vision we have for the forums.
The website is http://www.gameronfire.com/
I have an offical blog there, which can be accessed @ http://www.gameronfire.com/index.php/blogs/magx01
So, come check us out, join the forums, and help us grow. Keep in mind, the place is still under construction, and things are still being sorted out, but it's basically fully functional at this point in terms of forums and such, but there is plenty of work to be done yet on the content and infrastructure implementation side of things. The admin/webmaster, Tyler, seems to have a good vision for the site, so I have much confidence in it and him. Also, he's looking for staff, so feel free to apply if you feel you would be an asset. You can do that on the website itself, or in the forums.

What I Have Been Up To.
Well, I have been up to some fairly big things, at least, I consider them to be so in the little microcosm of my world. I'll do these numerically:
l) I am now on staff at a gaming website. I'll put up a post on that momentarily.
EDIT: That post it now up. See HERE
2) It appears that I am going to be writing a monthly corporate newsletter for my buddies' business, as well as editing and proofing their written proposals and other such documents. I was given their current proposals to look over as a sort of test run, and, having submitted them to him tonight, I think he's going to be pretty happy with what I did :)
And if he's not.....I'll kick him in the balls and make him cry :P
Bye for now.
